Default New cabin air filter from sewells

sewells sells part number Part #: 87139YZZ08 as the replacement did they change it for the lexus is350 2007? is the second pic is the side of the filter.

Is that how the carbon filter looks like? OR is it the GS filter?

Just read the maintenance section of your owner's manual, it shows exactly what you need to do, with pictures and everything.

Hey all, please pardon the dumb question, but for as long as I've owned this car, I have never, ever switched out the cabin filter..

Is there actually any harm from not replacing the filter with a new one???

Thanks for any info!

Well you'll be breathing in all the crap that's stuck in your air filter. And your system won't be as efficient as it could be.

Btw i just replaced my cabin filter with this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=5336108637-20
(Thanks xnfsx for the tip)

If you guys are looking for a cheaper replacement, that is carbon too, get this one. It's really good, no more smell coming from my A/C and it fits just like the OEM filter!

From the comment on Amazon, it looks like the arrow is the direction of the air flow, so it's supposed to go opposite. Can someone who has this confirm?

When I changed the Cabin air filter I ended up braking something as well. Dealer charged me about 800 bucks to fix. part was only like $65 but labor killed me. had to do this in order for my AC to be cold in extreme summer temperatures out here next to FT Worth Texas (DFW area)
Sounds like a nice rip off by the dealer to me. what do u guys think?

It's not a rip-off; Lexus parts are expensive and this particular repair is very labor intensive. Lexus' fix requires a long and complex labor process - that doesn't mean you accept their fix.

The fact is that the owner's manual and every CL thread related to this make it extremely clear that it needs to be on recirculation mode before replacing the filter. People simply need to do their requisite research and read their owners' manuals prior to doing things like this.

There are far cheaper DIY fixes for this issue as well. A quick search on CL will reveal threads explaining them.

The moral of the story here is just be careful, and read your manual.
