For those that have broken the recirculation hood by prying it up when try to change the filter in fresh air mode, I've created a DIY that might help.

There are two versions of the Wix brand, one charcoal impregnated ($12.28 shipped) and another without ($11.88 shipped).

Holy cow, Amazon is sure fast. Ordered the Wix charcoal impregnated cabin filter this morning and tracking says it will be delivered tomorrow with the standard free shipping. Will take some pictures comparing it to my stock filter when I receive it tomorrow.

I just installed the Wix charcoal filter and it feels heftier than the OEM filter. Despite what the online reviews say I think it should be installed with the arrow pointing upwards. The filter material has a smooth side and fuzzy side. It matches the OEM filter when the arrow is pointing upward. Fitment is perfect, airflow seems unchanged.

Doesn't the air flow down,though?
You have to go with the airflow which is arrow down.

It looks like the dirt is accumulating on the bottom of the original filter.

The last fold on both of the filters go the same way when the arrow points up.

You can't tell from the pictures but both filters have a smooth and a fuzzy side. I decided that the folds, smooth/fuzzy sides, and arrow going the same way as the OEM would probably work best.

Just replaced my 15k-mile-OE-non-charcoal and it looked filthy, as if it was a charcoal filter. No point to air blow the sucker and reuse it.

Must be LA smog craps.

Default Filters

I run the Fram Fresh in my RX.

13 dollars each. Buy two from Amazon and the shipping is free.

Wix Filters FTW! Got the Cabin Filter & the Engine air filter for cheap off Amazon. Both fit/work perfectly

I'm on the second Cabin filter...the first one looked like it trapped a lot of dirt and I installed it with arrow facing up.

So in an IS model the Wix cabin filter arrow goes down or up?

According to WIX, the arrow shows the direction of airflow. So it was said to install it upside down, but I haven't had any trouble or issues installing it the same way as the OEM filter.

Thanks for suggesting this one. I purchased it last week. Was going to get the one on Sewell but this filter looks good
