Auto Tilt Mirror in Reverse Issue
#17
Left side, both goes down... right side, only the driver's side. I think this is what it is... can't remember, I leave it on the left side.
Also you do need to have the Luxury or Sports Package... I don't know if it comes in the newer X-package or not.

Interesting, I just got back from vacation with my 2006 IS350 sitting in the garage for 2 weeks and the same thing is happening. It's just the passenger side mirror... The driver's side tilts just fine but the passenger side only tilts 1/4 of the way.

Apparently it is a dirt (dust) build up on the pivot point of the mirror mechanism. If you manually move (by hand) the mirrors (mirrors only not the mirror housing) to their extreme positions left, right, up, and down it will loosen up the mirror and the auto tilt should work again.
FYI only IS models with seat memory have this auto tilt feature.

The auto-tilt mirrors may not be cool, but they are practical. The backup camera doesn't show how close you are to the curb when parallel parking.
(I'm afraid of wearing out the mechanism in the mirrors, so I actually leave mine disabled, and only flip the switch to activate them on the rare occasions when I parallel park.)

Does anyone notice if both of the mirrors tilt exactly at the same time?
My passenger side mirror tilt ends 1/2 second ahead of the driver's side.
Also the driver's side mirror doesn't tilt as smoothly as the passenger's side.

Has anyone taken it in to the dealer for this? Ive had so many bad experiences with LExus dealerships so I wanna wait until I know for sure they will fix this. My left side tilts like 1/4 while my right tilts all the way down. And when I do somehow get the left side to go all the way down, my right side tilts 1/4. So many god damn problems in this car!!!!

I just had this problem fixed by my dealer on Friday, July 20th. Over the prior weekend the passenger side mirror stayed in the "down" position and I had to reset it with the memory button. Then, on Tuesday the driver side mirror started only tilting about 1/2" as stated by the first post and would not return to the up position without hitting the memory button.
The dealer fixed the problem by reinitializing the windows. There is a procedure to do this in the owners manual (Page 46 near the bottom) that involves lowering each window half way and then returning it to the up position and holding the switch for 1 second after it is up. This needs to be done from each individual door switch, and not all 4 from the driver's door. This solved the problem and they are working just fine now.
Hope this helps.

i called the dealership and they say its going to take at least an hr to check out whats wrong and i hate going to this particular dealership as they take forevers just to do a simple oilchange (2hrs). i know they check other crap but still 2hrs??? i wonder how long this fix is going to take them
