Default Wait for 08 IS250?

I don't need a car urgently so should I wait for the 2008 IS250 or buy a 2007 IS250? What are the pros/cons of each? How much will they raise the HP for the 08' model? I am also debating between an auto or stick? Any input is appreciated

I was told to expect no change between the 2007 and 2008 models. All things being equal I ordered a 2008 since they will be out within two months and I didn't want to have my car age a whole year practically overnight.

2007s at this time (near end of model year) are likely to cost less. There are a few threads about changes for 2008, do a search...but I believe the consensus is that there will be no changes (major or otherwise).

If you don't plan on keeping the car for more than a few years, an '08 will likely be worth a bit more come resale time, but you may not even break even if you can get a great deal on an '07.

i.e. the difference in price you pay for an '08 over an '07 might not be recoverable when you trade it in.

I wanted the horsepower more than a "stick". Thus, I have an automatic. Too bad but that is just the way it is.

If one buys a car close to the end of it's model year and one keeps it a long time it will have less miles on it vs. the same year car purchased 10-12 months earlier. Also, maybe a better deal on an '07. Maybe.

Me? I'd probably go with the '08 and be pleased to have a really new car. But this day and age one can hardly tell difference between one year and another anyway.

Years ago.......WOW.....the differences were astounding. Like going from the 1954 Chevrolet to the 1955 Chevrolet. Ahh, but I digressed. Sorry.

i would say there are many benefits to an 07, as many said you are going to get a better deal as year is coming to an end. you also have a car that yes is a full year old in some ways but with min mileage on it! i have always picked up cars towards the end of the season because i tend to drive a lot of miles so it gives me a whole year to catch up where the market is for that car and get a better deal on the car.

good question!

I would wait unless you can find a really good deal on exactly the one you want.

I would go new...go for the 2008. Lexus is never one to cut major deals at the end of the model year, so don't expect above average discounts on the 2007.

After all, this isn't a Pontiac.
