Default Sirius tuner does not use shark fin antenna

I just purchased a Sirius tuner for my IS250.
This was after asking the parts guy if the shark fin antenna is used.
He responded that it did and was wrong.
It does not use the factory antenna.
It also requires you to take apart most of the interior.
If you are not good with this type of work, I would advise to get someone that knows what they are doing. Hope this helps!

Well there we go, theres the answer to that one. Any chance you could post a pdf file of the install instructions? Im interested in seeing how they differ from the XM kit.

Was the hookup to the antenna different? Satellite antennas are usually universal. If not I think you can get an adapter online.

I started to do some research and it looks like it's going to be harder then I thought. NOT IMPOSSIBLE but harder. It also looks like VAIS is trying to get some adapters from Japan. We shall all see....

Well, as far as I know, there is no Sirius or XM in Japan, so I'm not sure what VAIS is talking about.

My dealer warned me about this, and I refused a $700 installation as a result. I use my plug and play and it is more than adequate for a $50 installation.

This one is referring to using VIAS XM but you get the idea. Post #12

It looks like they are getting the parts to make one from Japan. Not a completed unit.
