Something tells me my bumper got drilled and repainted at the port, but then again maybe not. Can you post pics of the dimples in your front bumper please guys.

you mean two dimples where you put on your license plate.. i have those.. its there so just in case you get a front license plate you know where to drill? i think? and some states do require you to have a front license plate...

The port won't drill for front license plates, the destination dealer does that as part of the delivery prep. Not all states require front plates, so the port won't bother with that . . .

The two dimples found on the front bumper are not for drilling the holes for the front license plate bracket. The Lexus pre-delivery inspection instructions (PDI) are crystal clear on this. Those dimples are found on all 2nd gen IS bumpers, and their purpose is to provide clearance for the screws that hold your license plate to the bracket.

Ok I shoulda clarified... I'm def not a automotive n00b :P

I know what the dimples are there for, mine are abnormally large, like the size of a screw.

I believe that's a geometric impossiblity. My recollection when I installed my front plate, was that the distance between the dimples in the bumper was the same as the distance between the attach holes in the bracket. The holes in the CA license plate do not match the dimples in the bumper.

Therefore, the dimples are for the bracket attach fasteners. Q.E.D.

^You're absolutely right. I got my wires crossed and was thinking of the license plate, not the license plate bracket. My girlfriend actually told me this earlier today, but I could have sworn I read in the FSM a warning about not drilling in the dimples. Just goes to show you, never argue with a woman... Thanks for the correction.
