Default VA dealership wants $1080 to install eibach springs!

I cant believe what I heard when I called Charles Baker Lexus in Newport News VA! I was quoted 1080 labor to install eibach springs....

Looks like i'll be looking for an indy shop for install. How much did you guys pay for labor?
Can anyone recommend a shop in VA/DC/MD area. TIA

Oh my!

I did it myself, it was a P.I.T.A
A good shop who knows what they are doing should charge you between 150-250 for labor tops

Did you laugh at them? Did you ask if that price also included **** lube, because you're being raped with that price quote...

It depends on the labor rate. In NoVA it is $90 - $100 per hour (probably more at the dealership). It is a 5 to 6 hour job. And you have to get an alignment. I doubt you'll find someone to do it for $250 in this area unless you have a friend that works on cars (a friend of mine wants springs on his car and his friend would do it for $300).

I would have figured that Newport News would be cheaper (though not a dealership).

Why you go to dealer and get that quote? There are tons of sports shops can do it cheaper and throw you with free 4x wheel alignment.

I think the dealer is quoting you "the correcto" labor according to Lexus's labor guide and rate. Of course you can take chance to get it done somewhere else.

It takes less than 2 hours, especially if a Lexus tech knows what they're doing. Mine was done in 2 hours by a non-Lexus tech.

As for an alignment, you should wait a couple of weeks to "break-in" the springs. The springs need to settle before you align the wheels.

I need to move to where ever you people live. Obviously every shop in this area is retarded because it takes them 3 times as long to do anything.

Well you might want to move to Miami because I only paid $ 150.00! That’s right $150.00… so if anyone is willing to drive down to Miami let me know and I will provide you with the shops info. After the shop installed it I waited two week and took it to Lexus of West Kendall for a wheel alignment and the tech advised me that it was according to specs, doesn’t pull at all. Oh yeah, one more thing it took him less that two hours just like Mr. Philip.

I use to live in DC/MD area where I knew several good indy shops around, but southern VA is a different story. Its ghetto and good shops are hard to find down here. So the labor should be no more than $300 + alignment right?

Any good indy shops in VA/MD area who works on the IS =)
