i had the same experience with lexus of edmonton in canada. with 19K miles on my is350 they told me i don't have enough pads left to qualify for the service.

i just got off the phone with both lexus usa and lexus of canada. the guy at lexus of canada was a rude ****. lexus usa was much much more helpful and friendly.

a service specialist at lexus usa is going to look into the situation for me and call me back within two business days.

i'll keep clublexus updated.

Default Only For Front Pads

Keep in mind the TSIB is only for the front pads. You are on your own for the rear. The front wear out before the rear but a lot people tell the dealership replace them all.

I say call his bluff, decline the service and tell them to put the original pads back on. I bet he'll change his tune and warranty the pads . . .

What specifically did Lexus Canada corp say? While they may have been rude the TSB clearly states that this is free under Lexus warranty up to 4 years/80000k. Can't see them ignoring this. Here is a Lexus Can. corp number and the name of a Supervisor who was helpful to me some time ago (Dec.06). Luc Poulin, 1-800-265-3987, ext.3361. Hope this helps. Let us know.

swapped them @ 15k. the service tech asked if i was sure, and i told them that i wanted it done. no other questions asked afterward. didn't cost me a dime.

$300 to replace something on warranty sounds very, very fishy. i call BS on this.

Absolutely unacceptable! I hope to print out that TSIB and take it back to them and demand your money back! And call corporate after that an complain anyway since they never should have charged you to begin with! Why did you even pay in the first place?

i had 22K km's on my car and got the TSIB and Rotors replaced free of charge. I would call corporate and reveal to them what their dealerships are doing to their reputation.

so i picked up my car. according to the service rep. the front brakes were metal-to-metal, and, therefore the TSIB warranty claim would not apply. He said he would present the pads to the DM (District Manager) for Lexus and if the DM approved the claim, then the dealership would refund the $300.

I will keep you updated on the outcome.
