Default TSIB Brake pads..dealer charged $300.....

I dropped off my IS350 in the a.m. for brakes/TSIB replacement. Just got a call from the service dept. and service rep. said that TSIB will cost me $300 because the wear on the brakes is OVER 60%!!!! Has anyone heard that the brakes must have more than 60% left in order for the warrany to apply?

I don't really trust the dealership because when I dropped of the car the service rep. told me the car had to have less than 12K miles on it to qualify.

technically, if they're performing a TSIB, its free. He wants to charge you to replace the pads because there's less than 60% left, and he's going to use the pads specified in the bulletin.

Tell him to show you where in the TSIB it states that a certain amount of the brakes have to remain.

He's just trying to double dip.

That is BS. I can understand they are trying to proration it, but since it is on TSIB, it falls as a warranty service and should be free. Be nice and talk to the service writer about You know TSIB; if not, get the manager out...

Still... good luck. I hope you get your deal back.

Brake TSIB info

Tell them that it's covered under warranty: 48 months or 50k miles.

Not 12k miles. 50k miles!!!

Print it out and say "My warranty covers me for 50k miles."

Default TSB greed

This is unadulterated greed. They want to charge you for work that Lexus authorizes to be free under warranty and who knows, maybe then claim warranty refund from Lexus. Identify the dealer, complain to the service manager, and if no satisfaction report them to Lexus corporate. This nonsense must be stopped.

I suggest you do all of the above except report them to Lexus no matter what happens.
