Default Steering feel on IS350

Have noticed recently that occasionally going thu curves at a constant speed the resistance on the steering increases momentarilly, as though it is going over a cam. I am curious as to the cause and have others experienced it. If this is a defect, what is the remedy. Thanks.

If you're going too fast, perhaps VDIM is kicking in...

It's my understanding that the steering is supposed to adjust itself depending on your speed, turning, etc.

That's just what I've been told. I have not checked it out.

I've noticed a (fortunately rare) odd feeling decrease in steering effort during relatively constant radius turns at fairly relaxed speeds. I had originally chalked it up to tramlining, but later came to wonder whether it might have something to do with VDIM and the electric power steering.

Mentioned it about a year ago in this thread https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=224321 - see posts 9 and 15.

I've noticed this...but just slightly. I assumed it was the electric power steering. Haven't noticed it in higher speeds though

I've had this happen occassionally too... It's only for a split second so it's hard to even tell if it was added resistance or added assist.

dont think it has variable steering ratio, a feature like that sucks anyways when you drive on a track each turn you cant really tell how much to turn the wheel because it changes each time, annoying bigtime

I also feel what u described... i hope its not a defect. It seems as if something is blocking the steering wheels just for that split second. BTW i only feel this during long right turns..

You described the condition better than I did. That is the same as mine.

I have this issue too. I notice it on long sweeping turns that require I maintain a constant steering angle, only on left turns with the steering wheel turned about 10 degrees from center. I expereince this about twice a month.

I notice the same exact thing. Thought it was just me. Glad to know that it is "normal" or at least others notice the same thing. It certainly is a weird feel and one that I don't like at all.
