Default Is it worth $165 for 10,000 mile maintenance???

Hello clublexus members,

I had a question.. South Bay Torrance Lexus is charging me $165 for the 10,000 mile maitenance, $65 for the oil change and $100 for tire rotation and balance.. I was thinking to myself I could go to my corner autoshop and get an oil change for $25 and get my tires rotated and balanced for maybe another $50.. What do you guys recommend I should do? Your input is greatly appreciated..

YOU CANT ROTATE THE TIRES AS THE SIZE IS DIFF!!!
In my opinion, just do an Oil Change! I have 23K miles and
so far, I did my oil changes every 5K miles! I am also thinking
of skipping the 30K service and do my major service at 60K

yeah, the tires can't be rotated if you have the staggered fitment wheels. i would just get the oil change and that's it. that's the only thing that really needs to be done. change the oil every 5k and then go in when your brake pads need replacing. that's all i can think of that is a necessity.

You can go to a Lexus dealership and ask for a schedule maintenance brochure for ISx50 and it list all the info they do or you can go to edmunds.com and go under maintenace to find all the info. You'll notice that most of the stuff they do is INSPECTION (brake fluid, transmission fluid, brake pads, etc). So is it worth paying them for inspection? NO!

OP did not say what kind of IS he had. If he has an AWD than you certainly can rotate the tires, so don't everyone jump to the confusion that he is getting ripped off by an unscrupulous dealer. It is up to you as to whether you think the $165 is worth it. I'd probably have them do the oil change only if everything else is running ok at this point. And rebalance the tires? Nah, it is almost never necessary to rebalance tires in normal operation.

165$ is not a good deal even if they can rotate the tires. that is the question here isnt it?

Yes, it was, until three or four of the responses were 'you can't rotate the tires'. Just trying to get the facts straight, m'aam.

In this case, the other posters are right. The original poster, PrettyBoi7, has an IS350. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=279490

In that case, I stand corrected. But that wasn't clear from PrettyBoi7's original post, and I didn't have the desire to do a search for his previous posts (too lazy on a Sunday morning).

I made an appointment for an oil change last week, and one of the first things the appointment girl said was 'oil change and tires rotated?'. They just say this as a matter of course. It is up to each owner to remind them that they can't rotate a staggered setup. And to make sure they don't charge you for this kind of nonsense. When my car goes in I tell the service advisor 'No tire rotation and no washing of the car'.

On your next oil change you should have them change your engine air filter and cabin filter. I bet those are getting dirty.

If it were my car, I would put better than the $25 worth of crap oil that your corner autoshop uses.

It all depends on what $165 means to you and how long it takes to earn that much. Bill Gates probably has socks that cost more. If you're not Bill Gates, you might consider your other options..Like changing the oil yourself or finding an independent shop to do it (I would avoid the quick lube places)

The oil is the same whether you go to Lexus or the Quickie Lube places, what is different is the level of competence of the labor.
