found something bad to say bout my is
i guess i noticed that my is250's security system isnt as secure as i thought....
after getting out of the gym, from a distance i rolled down all my windows with my fob....as i got to my car, i popped the trunk..place all my goods in and thought to myself to test out the security system....i then locked all the doors with the fob again....place my keys 10 ft away..and with my hands i unlocked the doors through the open window......as i reached for the handle to open the door, i expected the alarm to go off..it didnt...
its wierd, my brothers accord, my parents toyota solara, and my old tacoma has this feature..how come lexus doesnt???

Yea these new modern day factory alarm systems are a bit odd... I have tried that on my IS and my gfs 06 civic and its the same for us too. How exactly does one "set off" the alarm?

HMM interesting. Were you able to start the car though with the fob 10 ft away?
Ben, I think the modern alarms nowadays have break sensors meaning the alarm will go off if someone tries to break the windows. I like the old ones with motion sensor. My cousin's RX got hit in the rear bumper while parked in the mall and the alarm didn't go off. Someone witnessed the accident and reported it to my cousin.

ok, so heres my take on it. i decided to try it out too, but both of my key fobs were left in my bedroom and when i went to the garage (the windows were already down and the car locked earlier) i decided to unlock the door from the inside and right when i did, the car locked itself back and the horn started blaring. Im not sure if theres a time limit on how long since you have been in the car or how far away your key is, try taking it out further next time or wait longer since youve been in the car??

I say let them have it, don't get me wrong I love my car, but these days people just seem to ignore alarms anyway. Besides, if they really want it, they'll deactivate the alarm, and drive off with the car before anyone realizes what happened, which is why I do not keep valuables in the car.
