Default Pros and cons of Mobil1 Syn 5w20 v.s. 5w30

I've searched for this info but just can't seem to locate a thread that answers it. I'm sure it has been discussed before and if it has (1) I'm sorry and (2) can someone provide a link for me. If it hasn't been mentioned, then can we talk about it? I am going to in for an oil change on Wednesday and am going to change over to synthetic. I'm not sure if I want 5w20 or 5w30. Any thoughts?

TIA!

Vit

There could be a slight difference in mileage and the lower the weight the faster the oil will flow during start-up. Up to 80% of engine wear occurs during start-up. 5w20 is the recommended weight but if you can find 0w20 it would be even better.

Thanks for the replies. I'm not really asking what other people use, but moreso what the difference between 5w20 and 5w30 is.

I thought the recommended oil for the ISX50 is 5w30. Is that not correct?

That is not correct. The recommended oil (and the factory fill) were changed to 5W20 a while back; this is documented in TSIB EG006-06. 5W30 is still considered a perfectly acceptable alternative.

It's all dependent on the climatic conditions of where you live and drive. Sorry I can't help, because I'm not familiar with kjhklh

Here in So FL, I use Mobil 1, 0w40.
