Default Auto tilt away of the steering wheel

Hi,

Does anyone know how to disable the "auto tilt away of the steering wheel" on 2007 IS250?

Thanks!

You mean when you turn off the car?

I haven't heard of such a thing done...

Yes, when the vehicle is placed in park, the ignition turned off, the steering wheel automatically move up and away from the driver position setting.

It might be one of the LPS the the dealer can change. Check the manual. I can't get to my manual now, but I think the page that shows all the LPS' is 406 or something around that.

Yeah, it's one of the personalized settings that they can change at the dealership for you.

I saw the tilt steering wheel option on the LPS. The manual does not say how to disable it. it is strange that I could not change the auto tilt-away option by myself, but I can change the door lock options.

Too bad they couldn't just make a button for it like my 92 LS has.

I thought it was only if you have the power tilt and telescoping wheel, but the LPS sheet doesn't note that--it's number 14.

They could make a button for most LPS. GM cars have a **** to set the auto headlight sensitivity. My mother-in-law's Buick Lucerne has a menu to set many things that are equivalent to the LPS.

It seems kind of stupid that Lexus doesn't make it possible to set the LPS yourself. Some of the stuff that you have to go to the dealership for is kind of silly, like the auto headlight sensitivity. Is this just a way for them to extract more money out of their service department? And, for the few things they do let you change (like the door locks), they should really just centralize everything under some easy to use intuitive interface like a menu system. Anything that can be customized should all be together, and not scattered across secret key presses, going to service to set the LPS, or the satellite switch (for the tach and speedo warning lights).

No--there is a setting that the wheel will move up and out of the way for easier ingress/egress. I thought it was a setting that only applied when you had a power tilt/telescope wheel, but the LPS sheet doesn't specify.

Thank you. I forgot about that.

Yeah, it only works if you have the auto tilt-telescope steering wheel (Lux package). I forgot that was a LPS setting, and I would never consider turning it off because of my big butt...
