Default 400 Mile trip in New IS

So I am getting a new IS 350 SGM in under a week. I am so stoked. I have been reading about the break in period of the car and I know there is no consensus or hard and fast rule. I also didnt see anyone ask this specific question, so could someone tell me if I can take my car down to Austin within the first week of owning it? I live in Dallas and its about 200 miles one way to Austin? Would this be a terrible thing for my engine? I have heard about needing to vary the speed and RPM of the engine to break it in. So to me that means i should drive 80 for a while and then drop it down to 3rd gear and see the red ring for the first time right? hehe. Honestly though, I want to keep this car for a while and am planning to drive it conservatively until the 650 mile marker, would this be a bad thing for the engine if i take this trip? I thought it would be a good way to break in the engine and rack up the miles quickly, but i might be wrong. Please advise.

Yeah i dont think there would be any immediate or perminant damage, I am just thinking long term. You have to understand that my new IS is replacing my car from highschool ('96 Ford Probe....talk about an upgrade...haha). So I keep cars around for a while and just want to make sure that no long term damage will happen.

i took a 500 mile trip the day after getting my car. i don't think they are any long term effects. just vary your engine speed and you should be fine. stay off the cruise control too.

So many things happen to a car over the course of its life to affect its durability. I can't imagine there being statistically significant proof that a long trip to start break-in contributes to a shorter car life over the long-run when everything else is held constant. Enjoy your car!

I took a trip to Louisiana and back, 560 miles round trip, in the first week that I owned the car. I even used the cruise. I'm at 4K miles now, and the car runs fine. Gas mileage is 32+ mpg, with AC set at 75, and cruise set at 75.

Perminant and Longterm fall along the same lines. The car is like $40k. If there is going to be a problem you will know within the warranty period. Break in period is a load of ******. I bought a brand new IS300 last June and have been driving like a bat out of hell ever since. I say "Drive it like ya stole it"

Oh yeah, I now have 33500 miles on it and have had the oil changed like 3 times. The car is built like a brick ******house.
