Hypothetical: IS350 vs. Boxster S?
So, an MD in my group and I have proposed a bet: his '07 Boxster S vs. my '07 IS350, best of 5 runs in the 1/4 mile. There's a *substantial* amount of money riding on it. Anyone have any thoughts? Should I take it?

Probably not a good bet. The boxter S will probably take you if he knows what he's doing, but not by a huge margin.

I wouldnt. But I have nothing to base that on, just dont think a lexus compares to a real sports car.

I agree, and I own one! If the Boxster is a manual, it's all about the driver.

Sorry but you cant always judge just from the power of the vehicle. The tranny has a lot to do with it and the driver, so does traction and so on.

A 500 lb lighter manual car with similar hp? I wouldn't take that bet...

boxter s won't be "very low 13s" more like late 13's trapping slightly above 100. Given equal-ish drivers, boxter should win by thin margin.

Take out all the stuff in the trunk, run with about a 1/4 tank of gas, go a day or 2 before to get some practice runs in and figure out the best way to launch.

If you can get multiple runs in the mid 13's or close... i think you'd have a good chance.
