Cool Naked Road Trip

So I'm preparing for my first official road trip in my IS , about 600 miles round trip and I wanted to get everyone's thoughts about making the trip naked (BTW, all you pervs out there, by naked I mean with no protection on the front end of my car! Duh.) I don't have a clear bra and don't plan on getting one. I guess what I'm looking for is one of three things...

Do I:
a)Go Naked (and risk getting pounded with rock chips)
b)Purchase a regular bra (I wonder if our cars are 34C's or 34DD's??)
c)Use 3m tape to protect the front end from little chips that may occur.

Thanks for the input and TGIF!

Well Id say it depends on where you are going to be driving and how you drive. If you are going to be out in the country where there is loose stuff on the road and bugs everywhere then yes you should do something. If you are the type of driver that like to tail gate or follow closely behind everyone then yes you should. If you are going on well traveled roads and you normally stay far back from anyone in front of you then nah, I think youll be alright.

TGIF to you also! I actually have made many round trips to Louisiana and back in my IS (560 miles round trip), and managed to get some chips on my car when it was unprotected. During the first trip, I was only 40 miles from my destination, and got a rock flinged at me by a truck. It made a mark on my roof near the driver side door (I wasn't tailgating either). I fixed it with touchup paint

I also noticed another small chip no my hood that I managed to patch up with the touchup paint. All in all, 2 chips for 560 miles on I-10, which is 18-wheeler city.

I then started using 3M tape to protect the front end, front end of my roof (don't forget your roof!), and mirrors, and I've had no chips since on the same road trip. 60% of my 4000 miles on my car have been made on this same road trip. Use the 3M tape, it works well (though not physically appealing).

A side benefit - the bugs here in the summer time are outrageous, so when I peel the tape off, it saves me cleanup time. I would otherwise be spending an hour trying to scrape bugs off the front end of my car.

Good luck to you and have a safe trip!

i'd say get something on there. i drive 100 miles a day to and from work, all on very well travelled highways. i don't have a clear bra and i leave at least three car lengths in front of me and my front end is pockmarked with tiny chips. not to mention the huge gouge a flying stone took out of my hood the 3rd day i had the car. rocks can and will hit your car after 600 miles.

get a car bra and put it on for the road trip and take it off when you get there.

Definitely an "A" cup. I just ordered one of these in the carbon fiber look, along with the mirror covers.

I went up and down California about 8 times (3200 miles) within a couple months and now my bumper is a bit rough. Just use painters tape, it should be fine.

Is painters tape safe on surfaces that get hot, like the front of the hood?

Thanks for the input so far. Right now I think I'm leaning towards purchasing a bra that I use just for long trips, although that spray on shield is rather intriguing, there is something about spraying a substance onto my paint that comes out of a spray paint can that scares the hell out of me.

I remembered someone mentioned about the edge of the bra will scratch the hood....if you want to go with the bra...u should put some pedding on the hood to prevent scratches.....
