Acceleration Hesitation
Just picked up my new IS 250 last weekend. Absolutely love it. One annoyance i did find is in the reaction when you first press on the gas. From a stop, unless you press it hard, the first second or two delivers very little power and then it kicks in an you're off. That hesitation makes it a little harder to accelerate smoothly away from a stop. Is that the way it's supposed to work? Never noticed that on any of my other cars.
Also finding lots of brake dust on the rims. Will the TSIB take care of that? I'm thinking of waiting towards the end of the warranty to have them replaced.
My recommendation, if you don't have the x package, is to have the illuminated scuff plate, sport pedals and front lip installed. They each really make the car stand out. The metal sport pedals against the black carpet really look good.

Hesitation is the car trying to find the right gear. Paddle your own or put it in PWR mode. TSIB supposedly lessens the dust by using different pads. Try a search, you'll get much better (and more) info.

use the stick to shift and see if the same thing happens. Once you are warmed up and @ a stop, put it in 1st and have at it. If it still happens, I'd have Lexus check it out.

I'm sure the Lexus does have adaptive learning. Just to clarify...my wife is saying that she does not have a hesitation problem from a start.
It's seems to happen when she is moving/rolling and the car gets confused about what gear it should be in.
Can you reset the adaptive learning by disconnecting the battery (for 2-5mins) like with BMW's?

Yup, it's more complicated than that. Just search reset ECU.
PWR mode is ROM, so it does NOT learn. If there is hesitation there, it could just be the tranny downshifting. This takes time on even the best transmissions. If you don't think that it is a downshifting problem, try paddling your own gears with the shifter. If it hesitates within one gear, bring it in to get checked out.

If you watch the gear indicator on the display you can see that the car is constantly trying to get into as high a gear as possible (to save gas). That means anytime you want to accelerate, the car needs to downshift 1 or 2 gears which takes time.
