PurigeN98 in our Tires
First off, I searched this word and only found 1 result but really no discussion. So is this standard for all Lexus models? Here is a pic of the sticker that was on my front windshield on the inside I peeled off, never heard of this. The sticker has the website here is the link, so does Lexus put Nitrogen in our tires or is that from the factory? It is suppose to improved fuel economy. I have a blue cap on my valve stems. Does eveyone have this?
Is there really a difference between this and just putting regular air in your tire?

I don't have it. I have a friend with a C6 that does, he has really ugly green valve caps. They use it in race cars, it does'nt swell or contract as much with heat or cold. I still haven't seen a gas station with a supply hose for nitrogen.

Costco offers nitrogen fills for tires, at least in CT. I'm running it in my '68 1800S and the tires seem to run cooler. And I'm still running my regular valve caps.
I believe in this area TownFair Tire also offers notrogen.

So I searched again from the main clublexus page thinking there would be something on another forum besides the IS but only found 1 thread this one: maybe this is only done at JM Lexus according to this poster here:

So it appears this is done at the Lexus dealers. I wonder how much benefit this really has over plain old air.

Big O Tires out here in CA put nitrogen in my tires for $6 a tire (lifetime fillup) when I had the TPMS put in my JDM wheels. No difference in performance but supposedly fillups will be less since the temp does not fluctuate by much.

No, I didn't know anything about this so I wouldn't have known there even was a factory valve cap. It wasn't till I had the car a few days after delivery that I decided to check the tire pressure to see what it was showing and noticed the blue caps and the word Purigen98 on the cap, then I saw the sticker on my window and looked up the website on the internet. I think the blue caps stick out and would rather have caps the same color as the wheels to blend in.

Really? Where in CA are you? I like the idea, and lifetime fill ups that I dont have to do myself sounds pretty good, I just a) dont really trust those monkeys to even fill up my tires, and b) dont know if its really worth $24 bucks (at $6 a tire).

Yes, I would try and get those nice metal valve stem caps back if you can. The Nitrogen Green or Blue caps are nothing special other than color. It is made to stand out so any other mechanic or gas station attendent will know the tires are filled with nitrogen and not fill it up with air. The problem is, most people don't care. If nitrogen is not readily available and they need air, they just fill it up with air and that defeats the whole purpose. I'm not sure if filling one tire with air and the rest with nitrogen has the same bad effect as running radial and tube tires, but since the nitrogen and air heat and expand at different rates, you will have the air tire having a higher pressure than the other tires.

I bought a 2 gallon air compressor for my garage, and check the air in my tires on a regular basis. I'm sure they're still using nitrogen at the dealer during service (2x/year), but there's no harm in mixing normal air and pure nitrogen. I think the purpose of dealers using it is mostly marketing. They don't want you going elsewhere to fill your tires, so this is a great way to keep you coming back for more.

I'm in NorCal (Bay Area). The thing about having Big O fill it up with nitrogen is you will always go back to them for fillups since it's free. It's a marketing tactic to get you in to their store more often and hopefully spend $$. It is pointless to drive far if there is no Big O close to you. But I'm sure there are other shops close to you that provides it.
