Probably not because the 07 mounting kit is designed with the shark fin antenna use in mind and since the 06 doesnt have a shark fin antenna the 06 mount kit come with an antenna of its own.

Actually, the only difference is that the 06 comes with an antenna (and perhaps some more tie wraps). I actually received the 07 kit by mistake, and it was easily fixed by getting the antenna shipped afterward.

My wife has a 2006 IS250 with the Satallite Radio button on the dash and the windshield antenna. She went to the Lexus Dealer on Van Nuys blvd in Van Nuys Ca. and they wanted, get this...1600 to get an XM Receiver and have it installed. WHAT THE HELL???

I will see if I can get the receiver and follow your instructions, I hope I dont screw anything up. Has anyone installed with the antenna around the front windshield?

Yea, my account is ok.

Well, after all this time w/o my xm working, I just went to the lexus dealer. They charged me $105 just to diagnose it...even though I had the interior of the trunk already taken out for their convenience. Then they called me and said it was a bad tuner...which I figured...and then they said "do I want them to install a new one at a $100 extra charge! I told them no, and that I will install it myself. But when all was done and I picked up my car, they installed the new tuner and everything, and only charged me the $105.

Man, don't they know how to overcharge.

I wouldn't consider $105 for that diagnosis to be excessive at all considering how much time you spent on it with no results.

Any other 06 owners come up with a different solution for the antenna location? Any issues with lost reception, etc?

Default Some updates for a 2006

I installed the XM tuner for my 06 IS350 today. The instructions in this thread are by and large the same for the 06 as the 07+. The biggest difference, as discussed in this and other threads is there is no sharkfin antenna for the 06 so you have to add a separate antenna.

I ended up removing the long rubber thing...you can see what Lexus says its for in the 06 instructions but as I didn't mount it there..it just got in the way.

The package from Sewell is for an 07, so you have to specifically ask for the antenna. I did, but still didn't get it..so I called..and the sent it next day Fed Ex..which was ok since it was Monday and I wasn't planning on doing the install until today (Saturday).

I found the 06 specific instructions from another CL member. Here are a couple of links to get them

http://rapidshare.com/files/66908777/06_IS_XM.pdf

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=KET6KV3U

however they are somewhat useless as the additional parts for the antenna mounting are not included (consists of a template, some addtional zip ties and tape). Also, the recommended location really is ugly

I ended up installing the antenna inside the car via the hole for the third brake light..which comes out fairly easily..pull forward, then up..Its kind of a PITA to disconnect the electrical connection due to limited space.

I put a small piece of velcro on the antenna base...it sticks to the surface of the panel well enough so you don't need the other part of the velcro.

I then routed the cable like this:

follow the blue tape:

It then looks like this once mounted:

I haven't reinstalled all the trunk covers yet..I'm getting springs done soon..no sense tearing it apart again..Plus I can test the antenna location to see if I get any excessive dropped signals..If so, I will re-route it the the right lower glass.

I found this interesting..this is what the tuner/smart key/bracket assembly looks like 'put together'. Didn't expect it to be so 'unlevel'

Awesome! Thanks for the addition of the '06 install pics I was missing! I had no way of getting those since I didnt have the kit. Now the 06 people have no more excuses!

So I'm ready to pull the trigger on this one - just got an 08 IS350 and I am jonesing for my satellite radio. I really, really prefer Sirius and would prefer to keep it. My man at Sewell Lexus swears to me that the Sirius Tuner will plug into the shark fin antenna wire and will work just fine.

Has anybody tried this with Sirius using the stock shark fin rather than installing their own Sirius antenna?

Thanks!

My 3 months free trail expired a few weeks ago.

Anyone try to get the $77/year promotion lately?

Thanks member Ben R, I wanted to know how that instal was done. I was going to buy that tuner box and do it myself as well. Your directions will make me do that now. Furthermore, thanks for posting the window controls. I would have freaked out as well. This must be due to the anti-pinch technology and the sensors re-setting themselves.
