Default Rain Sensing Wipers - Finally Drove in a Downpour

I've had my car 2 months, and never really drove in a heavy downpour. I got the Lux Pkg with the rain-sensing wipers--which I had my doubts about. They worked perfect--I never had to adjust the speed manually to override them.

I've driven a few times when rain varies in intensity and for the most part the rain sensing wipers work well. They come on about the right time after a few drops hit the windshield, and ramp up in intensity as the rain increases. No complaints and I leave the system 'on' at all times.

Wish mine had them
I have drivent the RX with the option, works really well! Much better than my wife's XC90.
The Lexus system reacts really well to changing conditions, whereas the Volvo's system always seems to be behind.
If it stars pouring, it takes it some time to adjust and speed up, then once it lessens, it keeps on going at full speed....frustrating.

I thought lexus claims they already "chemically" treated the windshield that has the "rain-x" effect?

Sort of.

I think it's more about aerodynamics. The car looks "dry" after driving in the rain then pulling into a garage...

Not on the '06s. They got the 100% UV filtering glass.

I think this is good to know and a good option that actually works. We always here this type of option on the TV with other cars and wondered if it actually worked.. Well i guess you prove that it works.. Cool

Yeah, it's a really neat option. It actually works as intended!

I hate when I go wash my car and have them set on auto.

No. I go to those manual car wash and when I spray the car, the wipers would wipe the water off the windshield and get the excess water on me. lol.

This was another reason why I had to have the Lux Pkg. First time having to use them the other day and they worked great. I just leave it on auto. I need to figure out the sensitivity dial though...so much to read, between the 2 manuals for Nav and Car my head hurts.
