How much is your car payment

Very, very few people can pay cash for a car, esp a Lexus. A car is not an accessory for 99% of the people who need a vehicle to get to work. It's good that you can pay cash for it, but can't agree with your view that you shouldn't get a car unless you can pay cash for it. If that was the case there wouldn't be any auto industry.

I well technically I believe almost anyone with a white collar job can afford a civic or a accord in full;however, a lexus is more of an accessory. People don't "need" a lexus if its just for work...anything would do. Well maybe my view is biased, I am 18 and my parents just paid every cent for it. I grew up in a family of 6 sibblings and most people say we are spoiled, but its not like my parents arent making very good money.

I'm gonna have to agree with Evitzee here. If your theory applied to me, i'd be driving a Honda Civic since that's all my $17K I put towards my IS would get me.

Now things are different! I've moved out, graduated college, gotten a job and no longer need support from my parents. I paid for my IS with MY money and I make the monthly payments with MY money that I earn from working for a living.
Take it from someone who's been in your shoes... I think it's time you wake up and learn how things work in the REAL WORLD.

It's very easy for an 18yo whose parents bought him a Lexus in cash to say everyone should pay cash for their autos.
Get off your butt, move out, get a job and pay for your own stuff and then report back as to how easy it is to pay cash for a new car with no assistance from mommy and daddy. Whether it's a Honda Civic or a Toyota Matrix you most likely would be walking a few years before you'd be in even an entry level type vehicle. You're right, you are spoiled.

P.S. I am not preaching here, just pointing out the facts, because I am in the same boat, I put down 25k for a lexus when I could have bought a different car and not have a loan. After having a near-death experience, my motto is "You live once so live like a king one day at a time"

That was the first and last time my parents ever bought me a car, course i went on to total it within 2yrs.

Well I am 18 years old... my parents don't want me working until I graduate UC Berkeley... They just want to make sure I will focus on my studies unless its an internship for some engineering/business firm so I can get some useful technical skills.

I am old school (and just old
) but I always have bought and drove what I could pay for at that time. My first car was a 1953 Ford that cost me $250 in 1963. If I only have the money for a Ford Escort then I drive a Ford Escort. Luckily I have had a good life and can now drive what I want. Like I said, not that I am smart, just old!! ![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
