First maintenance is for 5k mileage or 6 months whichever comes first. I only got 2.2k so far but just passed the 6 months mark. Do you guys think its a waste to take it in since its only 2.2k. My brother-in-law told me I shouldn't take it in, just wait for a while since nothing is wrong with the car so far and I only got 2.2k. What do you guys think?

I agree with your brother-in-law.

The 5k check is mainly an oil and filter change, along with some visual inspections. Just check your oil level, if its ok I'd wait until you got closer to 5k.
