jdanon I say we each give a dollar and hire someone to "show" how a shoulder can accidentally hit the shifter.

jimjaix,

There is a way to avoid accidental shift from D -> N. Just set it at the Sport-shift mode (move it to the left) and leaving the gear setting at 6. From what I observe, there is no difference in driving comparing to setting at D. That way, if you or your gf accidental move the **** in either direction, at most is that you downshift to 5th gear which is still fine in freeway driving.

Leaving your hand on the shifter is a bad habit with any transmission, but especially with a manual tranny. With a manual shifter, resting your hand on the shifter puts unnecessary force on the internals of the tranny that increases wear.

Hmmm, you guys in CT don't get out much, eh ??? Try renting 'Fatherhood' and watch the scene where Steve Martin & Mary Steenburgen go out for a drive . . .

I was just curious about the shifting, I own the car for 6 months and that was the first time I accidentally moved the ****. Not so bad after 6 months? lol
