Default Rust-Looking Drops on Brakes

There are some rust-looking droplets on my brakes... It's not mud, and I'm not in any iron-filled atmospheres, it partially washes off when I spray pressured water on them...

Any ideas what this could be?

Thanks!

if a car sits without being driven for even a short amount of time, water that gets on the rotors creates rust. driving the car and hitting the brakes gets the stuff off. it's possible that it could be something else on your car, but when i wash my 250 and let it sit the rotors start to look a little rusty when the water dries on the brakes without the brakes being used.

^^^ yeah, just using the brakes should get it off. that's why it's not good for cars to sit without being driven. similar effects can take place in the engine when a car sits up too long also.

yeah, just surface rust. Like the above posters say.... just drive it and brake and its gone! Nothing to worry about now that you know. Happens on all cars... (disc brakes, excluding ceramic rotors)

Brake discs are cast iron. Unpainted cast iron corrodes as soon as water hits it. A critical step in rebuilding an engine is to wash the cylinder bores with hot soapy water. If you don't spray them immediately with WD-40, they'll corrode right in front of your eyes.
