Default crossdrilled rotors IS350

It almost time for me to change out my pad and rotors. I've looked around for cross drilled rotors but I was not able to find any where but ebay. The ebay ones look cheap and seem like they will break easy. I was wonding if anyone knows where I can pick some up for the IS350. I remember a while ago that Rotora had some 2 piece rotors for the IS350 comming out soon. Does anyone know if it came out and if anyone has installed them.

Eh, might help with heat dissipation if you are doing some really heavy braking... Like going down some SF hills everyday!

Umm. No. That's a myth. No brake engineer will tell you this.

Might help with degassing?

I thought I heard Brembo was making brake kits for the IS350...but about $6K for all four corners...Ouch!

Beano does a much better job of degassing, and modern pads don't have outgassing problems. Engineers solved those issues in the 80's.

Some people may disagree with me here but I personally think cross-drilled rotors are more prone to "breaking" and "cracking" under high pressure because most (if not all) cross-drilled rotors are drilled after the metal is molded. This will decrease the durability of the rotor by having less metal mass to handle the pressure.

In any case you wouldn't even notice a difference between flat, slotted, cross-drilled rotors unless you're constantly braking at extremely high temperature (racing conditions). For daily driving a regular flat rotor is more than enough and its a lot cheaper. But if you are going for the looks, slotted rotors are good enough.

A little off topic

Will it reduce brake dust by even a little bit or add more?

brake dust mostly come from the pads, not rotors.

Best thing you could do for your brakes would be to bust out your fog lights and direct front air through a wind funnel into the wheel well directly on the brakes

There is already a duct from the front into the wheel well for fresh air to cool the brakes. It just needs a duct to feed air into the center of the hat for track days.

cross drilled can be a negative depending on how the rotor is designed... if it had too many holes... its might reduce the surface area too greatly...reducing the contact area of the break pads and the rotor...thus less braking power...
