Default Gear 5th to 6th? Timing?

I am not sure if this is normal, sometimes on a freeway I am hitting 50-70mph but my IS 250 AWD's gear stays at 5th for so long until it goes to 6th (roughly 10-20sec?) is this normal?

Is your car warmed up? (car will stay in 5th until approximately a quarter warmed up). Are you going up a slight hill and accelerating?

Ya the car has been warmed up, I have to decelerate a little and it dropped to 4th gear and when I accelerate up to the speed it still stays at 5 for so long...

do u have have the power ECT switch on? that tends to hold gears longer. By the way, our car is rather underpowered and heavier then the RWD IS250, I tend to notice it down shifts quite a bit when u are going up slight hills, or even some slight acceleration. I really doubt there is anything wrong with your car, just how it behaves.

this happens with my IS350 as well, only when I enter the freeway from a certain ramp by my house (downhill)
