I did the same thing you did except i only wanted one color combo, starfire pearl and cashmere. Cashmere's are hard to find. I waited 8 weeks before he finally came back with a choice. I'm still waiting for my car now but it's already allocated to the dealer so not too much longer.

Good luck. '08s maybe harder to get since they want you to buy an '07 and will give you plenty of reasons to discourage you from doing that. I bought an '07 under invoice so it was worth buying.

I'd have a serious problem with this. The cars are made monthly with July being the last month. There were several cycles of 2007s made between order date and the end of the model year. Dealers that take six months or longer to deliver are sitting on the orders. I'm almost sure of it. I went through this in the spring. They tell you yeah sure you can special order, and then they say but it's going to cost you six months of waiting time. I think they do this because six or more months is so extreme most people will say forget it and be more inclined to take something off the lot. If you special order be careful and choose your dealership wisely. Too many dealers playing games out there.

I went to JM Lexus in Florida and they said special orders take 30-60 days, 90 in more extreme cases. Whether or not they really meet their time frames who knows, but I do know that I ordered a 2008 from them in June and it'll be here in a month from now, so that's 3 months, or slightly under, by my calculation. Given that some of that waiting time was because they had to wait for the last 2007 cycle to pass before actually submitting my 2008 order, that means I'm looking at a grand total of about 60-75 days for my 2008 special order. Not bad if it actually turns out this way.

Hey guys, just an update...

Apparently my '07 is on its way! Looks like it will be here this weekend. Black/cashmere. Dealer told hubby last week it was on a boat, which doesn't make sense since I thought all '07s had already been shipped, but whatevs. It's coming so that's all that matters. Thanks again for your help...

Hmm..interesting. Yeah the 2007s have all been distributed at this point. The 2008s are due on the lots in less than a month, so it would seem strange for Toyota to have another round of 2007s en route, unless it is overflow and coming over with a shipment of other cars.

yeah I don't get it. The dealer might be full of it - though I don't know why he'd say it was on a boat when it'd be just as easy to say they got it from another dealer. I'm glad it's coming, though, wherever it's coming from. ;-)

I am in the same situation. My wife won't take anything other than Starfire/Sterling combo and that means I pretty much have to get it special ordered. Do you guys know if it is hard to negotiate if you order or it is possible? CarsDirect told me I have to pay $3k over invoice and wait around 3-4 months. And some dealers told me they won't budge for price (MSRP).

Mine is on the boat too. Once it reaches the Seattle port I'll have a much better idea when it's arriving. ETA is 9-17 days from today.
