I spoke to the Service Adviser today and he confirmed that if your 2IS doesn't fall within the VIN numbers then your car already has the updated mirrors.

Well, I still see a bit of shaking when I turn up the music, go 80+ on the freeway or have the moonroof open.

You wont "lose" your speed rings, you just lose the setting that they were on. Any time you disconnect the battery they get reset. You just have to set them back to what they were before.

If you had programmed homelink, you'd lose it w/the new mirror. That's the only thing that is a downside of getting the new mirror. But reprogramming my homelink takes only 2 mins so I don't mind.

I'm having my mirror replaced on Monday (hopefully...assuming they diagnose the problem).

I will be able to comment then

Just got my car back from getting this tsb done. Honestly, there is no noticeable difference. I suppose the amount of rattle is slightly, just a teeny tiny bit less when the volume<35 when bass=+4, but the vibration is as violent at any setting above that. however, the mirror is tighter and harder to adjust but still doesn't fix the major issue.

I'm going to look into getting this done. My mirror shakes just by touching it. It has a lot of play to it. Hopefully this will take care of the issue.

Its funny, though. On the TSB, the new part number is the same as the old part number. How will the service department know if they're installing the "new and improved" part or the old, shaky, faulty part?

My guess is, since only a certain group of IS's are included (made before a certain VIN), they realized the problem during production and made the change, hence the same part number.

SO...., if the dealership has to order the part, it's more than like the NEW one that they are ordering.

i just got my lexus yesterday and the vibration is very noticable... i was wondering if this is the already changed rear veiw mirror or the old one? if so should i go back and get it changed? and does it make that much of a difference?

I listen to anything from hiphop to dance to old school. Mids and treble are all the way up and bass is 2 notches from max
