Default Question for Owners with the Lexon Roof Spoiler

Quick question for IS owners that have the Lexon Roof Spoiler, did your spoiler come with instructions and mounting hardware from Lexon ? IIRC, the spoiler is mounted with 3M double sided tape ? I assumed that instructions and the mounting tape would be shipped with the spoiler, am I mistaken ? I did have my spoiler painted to match the body, so it could be that the paint shop lost the extra pieces . . . TIA

You have to supply your own double sided tape. I used the one used by OEM manufacturers for cladding and spoilers. It is more heavy duty than that you will find at Home Depot or Lowes. Wouldn't want that expensive rascal flying off.

It's only one piece ..... no instructions required. Tape it up, center it and slap it on. If you have an assistant that will help.

I got mine from L-tuned Parts (Carson Toyota) as part of their Lexon Group Buy and their No shipping/Sales tax promotion (which ends on Aug 31). The Roof Spoiler was $399 and matching paint was $125 for a total of $524 delivered (normally it'd cost me sales tax + shipping). Kinda pricey, but it was a Bday gift to my IS. Not sure I trust that ebay guy, I'm very skeptical of overseas sellers for big ticket items, unless it was JDM products from reputable/verified vendors. List price for the spoiler alone is $550

Thanks Ultimax & Evitzee, for a second I thought I got hosed. For a genuine Lexon product, you figure there'd be more to it than just bubblewrap. . .

Evitzee, which tape did you use ? Is it the gray 3M with red backing ? I agree that for 5 cnotes, I don't want this baby to fly off on the freeway. . .

FYI,
I used 2 strips of the thick 3M Automotive Application double sided tape down the middle. For each end, I used 1 thick strip and 2 thin strips. Installing was a PITA, but it turned out great. I recommend you not to drive the car or get the tape wet until approx 8 hours for the tape to cure.

Remember to use 3M Wax Tar & Greese remover and then 3M Ahesive Promoter.

^^^ Thanks for the tip. Hmmm, looks like I'll have to buy some more auto supplies, I don't think the 3m tape I have is going to be stout enough. After a quick browse, I never realized 3m made sooo many double-sided adhesive tapes for auto applications, sheeesh . . .

This is what I used. I think this is about the strongest one you will find and is OEM grade according to 3M. I got it on eBay for about $10 + shipping. Following description is from 3M:

"3M™ Automotive Acrylic Plus Attachment Tape 06384, Black, 1/2 In X 5 Yds, 45 mil

3M™ Automotive Acrylic Plus Attachment Tape 06384 is a .045-inch thick, medium-density black foam tape with high performance acrylic adhesives on both sides and a red release liner.

3M™ Automotive Acrylic Plus Attachment Tape 06384 uses automotive OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) approved acrylic foam core and adhesive technology. 3M Acrylic Plus Tapes part numbers 06382, 06383, 06384, and 06386 are stronger, higher performing, high stress handling products than other automotive attachment tpaes. These tapes offer more robust performance to a wide variety of automotive substrates. Typical applications include body side moldings, claddings, rock panel trim, wheel flares, bumper trim and other exterior and interior automotive trim components."
