Was that offer for the IS250 at the beginning of the month as well? What kind of deal could you have gotten by waiting til end of the month? Any ideas??

So the dealers in the Bay Area won't even do $1200 under invoice now. Fremont Lexus told me the numbers are way off. How come it's getting so difficult now to deal on these cars. Like a week ago people were posting it was so easy to get a discount from such dealers. Any ideas???

Perhaps they have been too aggressive in the past and now they are a bit short in inventory, hence lower discounts. The market is fluid, prices can go up and down. It really comes down to supply and demand.

According to him it was about $1300 less than invoice. You may want to give them a shot. Fremont Lexus was willing to offer $1000 less than invoice, but this was from the fleet sales manager, who happened to be a high school buddy of my coworker. All the other lexus dealership didn't want to budge, except Putnam Lexus (Redwood city), they said they might match it, but I would have to come in and discuss with them. So after all that, I just went to San Jose, signed my papers and left with my car in an hour and knowing I got a pretty good deal.

Wow, 31,800 might be pushing it especially with XM. But hey, give it a shot. You have less to choose from, but they should be giving you better deals now that the 08s are rolling in.

I just talked to Sam from Stevens Creekt Lexus and he quoted me $32,988 for same car. I mention that someone on a forum had posted that they had bought from you for $31,985 but he said he hasn't sold a car for that low of a price.

I think the deals on cars can be best described as buying/selling stocks. There are limited supply and finite demands. Depending on situation things will fluctuate. I bought my car two and a half months ago and I did not pay rock bottom price as many have posted. However I did get nice discount off the invoice so I was happy. I suppose I could haggle around for two more months to find that savings of extra 800-900$. But that would had also robbed me of two months of enjoyment that I have been having. So take your pick. Enjoy now and pay whatever market demands. Or wait and see if market falls to your pricing and deprive yourself of a nice car. Choice is yours.

Ya you are probably right. But it would seem that since it's getting late in August and with 08's arriving soon that the discounts would still be there. At some dealerships there are a lot of the IS250's and some will still get the last allocation next week of the 07's. Oh well just have to see what happens.

Default Two Sam's in Stevens Creek Lexus

Mrtrance,

Which Sam did you speak to? There are actually two guys with the name Sam that works there. One is just a regular salesperson, while the other one is the internet sales manager, Sam Samanha or Samaha? Can't really remember his last name. He did mention to me that if I go to the dealership I need to mention his full name or I might get the wrong guy. Hopefully that wasn't the internet guy, if it is, then maybe they aren't selling it for that price anymore. Good Luck

I spoke to Sam Samanha. I don't think they are doing it at those prices anymore. Inventory is low and demand seems to be high now. Nonetheless I got my IS250 today fully loaded and am happy with my purchase. No more dealing with internet managers.

I walked the lot at a Houston dealership on Sunday and their stock of IS's was very, very low. They had seven on the lot, only one of them had Nav. Usually they would have 20-25 Is's on the lot. If that is a trend I'm not surprised the deals aren't quite as good as they were in the recent past.
