Javier said there's a party going on in this thread.....hey! what the....??

lol

I moved from '04 IS300 SportDesign to '07 IS250. I'm a lot happier with the new car as it's better on acceleration, gas mileage, and upgraded features like navigation/bluetooth. After 9 months of ownership I'm still getting used to the larger size and blind spots (thank goodness for backup cameras!).
The 2IS is lighter and quicker than the old one. I really loved the smaller size of old body style but I think the iron head gasket inline 6 engine was too heavy for that little car and the gas mileage was atrocious. The "joy stick" navigation system left much to be desired.
I love both cars and in a perfect world my old IS300 body would have the 2IS engine, but if I had to choose between the two cars I would choose 2IS.

I briefly considered the 350 but decided I could get into a lot of trouble with all that extra horsepower. My current car is a lease and I can always get it next time so regret isn't a problem for me.

I hope this helps and keep us posted on what you get in the end.

I wanted a IS350 but instead I got a IS250. Why? There is no way I was going to pay $8000 more just for 100 more hp on the exact same vehicle. Didnt make much sense to me. I dont regret it one bit because I did not want to spend $40k on a depreciating car. $30k was my limit.

^^^ Global warming math ? The 350 is exactly $3,767/4,280 (invoice/retail) more than a 250, not sure how you come up with $8k ?!?!? Also, even a bone stock 250 will cost more than 30k, then tack on TT&L you'll be in the low-mid 30s. . .

We arent talking retail. Who pays retail for a car these days??

I got my IS250 $6k off MSRP. Thats almost 2k under invoice. For $32060 OTD. If I wanted the SAME IS350. I would of probably got it anywhere between $38-40k OTD. So yes that is at LEAST an $6k difference. Dealers arent willing to let the IS350 go under invoice.

+1

250s are available for much better deals. If you are seriously concerned about money and/or gas, then the 250 IS the clear winner.

If you can afford the extra money, the IS350 is heads and tails above the IS250 (no offense IS250 owners). I had the IS300 modded and I opted for the IS350 after driving both. WARNING though, if you can't afford the 350 don't drive it. If you do, you will be sorry. It really is that much better of an engine. Good luck with your decision.

And you can't get nav no matter what, right? A small price to pay to live in paradise.

After all this, I'm going with the IS250. I got a killer deal on it (it's arriving later next week, it's one of the last 07s), a solid $6300 less than the 350. In the end they just wouldn't deal much with the 350, even this late in the year.

And thank you everyone! You've all been really helpful in helping me select my car AND get a great price on it. The final price (from Longo Lexus) is $1200 less than the best price I got a month ago from another dealer, and that's really thanks to you guys setting me straight. I did not do NAV (I actually have a great navigation app on my Blackberry that I get for free since I work in the phone industry), and I decided that the chrome rim thing was getting a bit cliche -though I do wish I could get the new rim finish on the 2008s! Now I'll need to figure out how to get illuminated door sills (dealer said he would sell them to me, but Lexus will not install them because it would force them to warranty them) and I am set. Thanks again, everyone.

Default my 2 cents

i recently went from an is300 to an is350 & i love it! i chose the 350 over the 250 because i personally want a performance-minded car & i think the 250 has less hp & torque than the 300 does (i could be wrong though). the 350 is really fast & handles great! its also a little bit bigger than the 300, which is nice & it feels more like a luxury car.
