Default Powder Coat (Rims) Question??

I am leasing a 2005 IS250 and want to powder coat my stock rims to black.

I called my salesman to see if this was acceptable, so he put me on hold, checked with his manager and came back to tell me that I am allowed to powder coat my rims.

Has anyone else checked with their dealer on changing the rims on a LEASED vehicle? I have a fear of doing it, then 15 months from now, returning the car and being charged $5000 to replace the rims that I powder coated for $200.

Most likely going to ask for a letter from the dealer that they authorized me to do the above and not be penalized, but was wondering if anyone else has looked into this, or completed it.

Thx!

Don't worry about it....

If you're really getting four rims powder coated for $200, you can just get them coated back to stock, if you have to, before turning it in.

That is, if the powder coating doesn't wash off beforehand. That is a VERY cheap price.

Exactly what I was thinking about doing - I have quite a while before my lease is up & I'm wanting to do the blackout thing with my already black car.

I've been looking for a picture of the 18s painted glossy black (or any black, for that matter), especially on a black car. If anyone knows of one, or if you get yours done IS250LA, put pics up ASAP!

yeah, I also saw a guy that painted his wheels the dark gray...I guess I'm just looking for someone who has already done what I'm wanting to do. Do you have a link to the 17s?
