I'm guessing Lexus chose the bulbs based on light output. Shame on those idiots.

Not really, IMO anything above 6000k is dim. At 6000k youre still at 3200lumens

Lexus HID systems aren't suck, they aren't just what you looking for. Lexus has some of the brightest xenon output compare to other car manufactures. By far, the LS460 has the brighest and most intense HID out there, it not blue, it just bright white. Ask any HID buff and they will tell you how good the LS460 HID system is. Have you ever driven in an E46 BMW? Their projectors produce a blue color but their output is dimmer than our IS.

If you want that blue effect, the real way to do it is to change the lenses and put a washer to move the cutoff shield farther out a bit.

For those of you who thinks BMW has blue ouput because they have higher kevin rating bulbs, think again. BMW don't use anything higher than 4800k rating. It isn't the bulb that makes it blue, it's the projectors that do it.

To the OP, the 6000k isn't better than stock man, it's DIMMER, less output.

tt061880 is right, the sourkraut kars have nothing to do with bulb type but the prisom effect of the lenses. This was discussed in depth in another thread... somewhere here *meaning CL forums*...

I noticed TSX/s2k and TL's lights are wider than most if not all and it seems brighter than my 2IS.

I find that when I'm driving my car I wish my lights were bluer but whenever I see an IS with Xenon, it really looks quite good. It's not very yellow at all to be honest...

I want to get 6000k every time I drive my car but change my mind every time I see a normal IS driving by.

just get a sibling to drive your IS and you drive theirs. I do it as a test.
