Is the birds eye maple wood trim real wood?

The wood veneer is laid into the plastic. If you look close you can see the plasic along all the edges.

It's veneer laminate for a good reason: tolerance to extreme temperature and environmental conditions. If the trim was solid wood, there is little chance of it staying in alignment, fitting properly and/or having it warp over time. It's better than any other wood I've seen in it’s class and certainly compares to other hi-end nameplates in some exotic cars as well.

I have the Dark Maple trim in my RX350, and I have to say I do like that more; but I also do like the red tint of the wood in the ISx50, as it hints of mahogany which is very rich and expensive looking - IMO.
