Third production year of most Lexus/Toyota means a slight powertrain upgrade/changeover and a handful of updates. 4th model year will usually update and refresh the interior and exterior. Granted the 2nd Generation IS follows the traditional 5 year cycle, 3rd year powertrain, 4th year aesthetic update/refresh.
As for the IS250, I am one that votes to see it replaced with the 3GR-FSE 3.0L (return of the IS300).

Then make that two of us. A better manual tranny would be nice too.

I seriously doubt Lexus is going to change the powertrain in the IS350 when the GS and RX just got the same 3.5L. Besides with the ISF coming in at 400hp, I wouldnt think they would gain anything from a engine change in the 350.
Now, as for the 250, more power to Lexus to go for at least 230hp.

2008s will be available as early as September depending on your dealer, though by the end of October I'd imagine every dealer would have them on their lots. I special ordered one and it's scheduled to be delivered to me in September.

The 2008 IS 250 and 350 features a new finish to its standard 17-inch wheels for a sportier appearance. Additional upgrades include backlighting on the outside power mirror control, white illuminated scuff plates and an additional coin holder.
The base MSRP for the IS 250 with a manual transmission will be $30,455, an increase of $200, or 0.7 percent. The IS 250 with an automatic transmission will carry a base MSRP of $31,625, up $200, or 0.6 percent. The IS 250 with all-wheel-drive and an automatic transmission will carry a base MSRP of $34,085, a price reduction of $200, or 0.6 percent. The IS 350 will be base priced at $35,905, an increase of $200, or 0.6 percent.

0.6% increase is not that bad, considering the changed made.
So, all IS will have white illuminated scuff plates? Will blue be an option then?
Also, if the wheels are the same but with a different finish, perhaps it will be similar to the "liquid graphite" finish of the current SC430?

I was told that the 2008 will start showing up as early as September. If any given dealer is moving 2007 fast, Lexus will release the 2008 just to keep IS on the lot. Everyone I talked to seems to say it will just carry over another year. No major changes at all. You might see an extra trim or an extra color, but nothing in terms of body style. The manager says that the IS350 will be even more of a demand since the IS-F will be out. Not many will want to spend the cost for an IS-F but they will like the power. So they will opt for the IS350 which can be difficult to find now. Just think about when the IS-F will be released.

The opposite could happen provided production stays the same. Buyers that normally would have been looking at an IS350 now have an option for the IS-F which might take buyers away from the IS350. So if those buyers opt for the IS-F, then availability on the IS350 might go up.
That is very true. However we get people stating that they wouldnt pay and extra 5K plus for 100 more hp. So it would be a tough sale to ask for 10k plus for an additonal 100 hp.

I don't believe the sale of the IS-F will be strong. As much as I love the IS, I just think the IS-F looks ricey. I wouldn't be surprised if they have to start discounting or limiting the production of the IS-F after sales drop below expectations.
I personally believe the price of the IS-F will draw more sales of the IS350 after folks realize that the 350 isn't that bad of a deal.
