I was just wondering what would happen if I get out the car with the key in my pocket and the car is running?

 

i've done it before. the car will just beep and the small screen on the dash will say "key not detected." it also continue to keep on running.

 

Anyone find a way to leave the car running...and lock the doors?

 

nothing at all . . . i get out all the time and close the door, and the car will beep about 3 times just warning you (i guess). no big deal . . .

 

I would also like to know this. Even with my remote starter it unlocks the drivers door only.

 

i've done it, I had the car locked and rolled down the window and then I got out racecar style . J/k I'd never do it.

 

i actually left my car on with my friend in the passenger seat and i walked up to the houses door with the key in my pocket, and my friend hopped into the drivers seat and drove away even though i had the key. Of course he picked me up later but what if this was a theif?

 

Someone will jump into your car and drive away

I got out of my car and my sis got in the drivers seat and drove to her house and nothing happened..

 

Or a carjacker - wouldn't you want a carjacker to drive away knowing he won't be able to restart the car when he stops it and you'll be safely far away. Imagine what would happen if the engine died when you got out while he's pointing a gun at you...

 

you have remote starter in your 2IS?

 

I'd much prefer the engine shut off if someones tries to move the shifter out of park when the key is out of range. I hope I never have to face a carjacker, but if I do, I'll gladly hand over the key.
