Default Just bought new IS350 - Tire package?

Hi All,

I just bought my first new car yesterday, a 2007 IS350 Obsidian with Nav and X Package.

The dealer was trying to sell me the Perma Plate package for $1295 and would throw in the Tires for Life Reward program. In order to keep the Tires for Life, I would have to do all my oil changes at a Lexus Dealership. My current tires are the Bridgestone Turanza ER33 and just replacing one set would cost me over $800 on tirerack.com. So is it worth it?

I am planning on getting the clear bra from Aerotect. I just need to figure out if I'm going to do the Perma Plate or not just so that I can get the tires.

Lastly, what are things that you would recommend me doing besides from what I already mentioned?

Thank you so much everyone!!!!

Does the contract say they'll replace with Turanzas or "equivalent" tires? I'd be pretty pissed off if I bought that contract and they put Big O tires on my Lex.

I have that package also. They are supposed to replace the tires with what came on the car or equivalent. Not worth it IMO, cost of servicing at the dealer far outweighs the cost of tires. In addition to having EVERY service done at that EXACT dealership, within 1000 miles of the service mile (ex. 10k service has to be done between 9k-11k miles, or you void the contract), you also have to get an alignment once a year, and when you get new tires...the disposal fee, mounting and balance fee etc are not covered under the contract.

It says equivalent and that I have to pay for mounting and balancing. The service people told me that I could do it at any Lexus. I'm wondering if I could do it at a Toyota dealership and get away with it.

Itsalan have you replaced any tires yet? Can you let me know what your service cost are and wouldn't I have to pay disposal fees anywhere? I really appreciate your response

Can I ask how much you paid alan for the package? And did you have to buy the perma paint from them to get it?

I'd be really pissed if I didn't like a particular tire and was forced to continue buying them because I essentially prepaid for them. I'd also be pissed if I was held hostage to paying for full dealer "inspection" services in order to redeem something I paid more than $1k for.

This wouldn't be for me, but you have to decide for yourself obviously.
