Default HD Radio

Has anyone heard any news as to whether Lexus will ever be offering HD radio kits for the IS? Contacted my local dealer about this and they hadn't heard anything.

Haven't heard a thing about HD radio from Lexus. It won't be on the 2008's as the new specs are already announced (no changes). You probably wouldn't see it until the 3rd Generation IS in a few years time. Lexus is pretty slow in incorporating the latest audio advances.

Dice electronics makes an HD radio kit that integrates with the factory stereo.

Yea and last I checked Costco.com sold it for our car too. Here is a thread I created on it when they first started selling it. I believe you can actually get it cheaper directly from DICE now though....

I have the HD Dice. Both HD Radio & Ipod integration work through the factory stereo & the nav screen.

What do you think of the unit? Does it do a good job picking up HD stations? Do the HD stations sound noticeably better than regular FM?

Not to thread crap here guys but seriously, do you really want to pay 2-3 hundred bucks to hear a few more stations in your area broadcast the same way too many commercials and stupid talk in higher quality? you guys really should consider XM... Get a portable unit that you can take from your car to home to work if you dont want to install it in your car. We have an AUX input that works very nicely for such applications and with all the deals going around on XM you really can get it for under 7 bucks a month. Just my two cents I guess....

Actually, you don't get commercials on the H2 channels. Almost all of the stations in LA have a 2nd or third channel and they're pretty unique. For example, KROQ HD2 is always "rock of the 80s". BTW, I didn't get the unit for HD, I got it primarily for Ipod integration and paid $100 bucks more for the HD.

So, does anybody have the Dice unit (or other unit as this is an old thread) in their IS? How is HD compared to SD?
