Default Has anyone driven their 2IS to Mexico yet??

Just wondering if any SoCal people drivin their 2IS to Mexico? I want to go to Puerto Nuevo for some Lobster.

Last time when I've went to Puerto Nuevo I saw about 5-6 BRAND new cars without even plates yet from So Cal. One was a new BMW 550I. I was shocked to see so many unplated cars there.

Just wondering if any of your guys driven your IS down there yet?

I'm heading down there in two weeks, and won't be driving my new IS 350 in Mex. I just don't want anything happening to my new car down there. If it gets damaged or stolen, who is going to give a dam, certainly not the local policia.

All those new cars seemed like they were people from Cali just coming to Mexico for a day to eat/vacation, etc.

a) The road is fine if you take the toll road and get off at the La Misson Exit. Turn back to the right for about 2/3 miles and your there.

b) BUT............the day of good lobster and low prices are long, long gone. The last time my wife and I ate there the lobster tasted like rubber and cost a bunch. Save your money and go just a little farther and go to La Fonda to eat. Great food, fair prices and excellent drinks....right on the cliff overlooking the ocean. Run by a couple of ex Russians. Been going there for years.........not many people know of the place even those Californians living near the border... It's about 30 minutes south of TJ.

Here is there web site: http://www.lafondamexico.com/

Puerto Nuevo is awesome, damn good/cheap lobster. Back on topic though, Puerto Nuevo isn't too bad so I think it should be OK. Just pay the toll and drive on the new road.

But then again if it was my car I would not drive it down there just because its Mexico, but i'm sure you'll be fine.

Northern Mexico is nothing, try driving down to central Mexico where I live...then let me hear your opinions.
