only 22 mpg on highway....aaahhhh
I am only getting about 22-24 mpg on the freeway during my daily commute of about 80 miles per day. I set my cruise at 75 mph. Any suggestions on why the mpg is so bad?

A few points. If your car is still pretty new, it needs a few thousand miles to really get up in MPG.
Second, maybe it's the non-freeway parts of the commute that's hurting your MPG, as some aggressive driving there will negate a lot of the effort on your highway run.
Third, 75 is hardly the most optimal MPG speed. Bring it down to 65 and you'll see a significant improvement. Even better in the 50's, but that'll drive everybody on the freeway nuts.

if you want to do 75 and get 30mpg -- learn NASCAR driving techniques and DRAFT . In my comuuter car I just get behind a big SUV or pickup truck -- I don't tailgate, just stay behind them. Stay far away from 18 wheelers unless you want a windshield that looks like the night sky (lots of stars!).

That foot got a mind set for speed lol. Try driving on the speed limit. and ask Vik said, put it in cruise. Also remove any extra weight that you dont need (i.e. junk, miscealenous items, dead bodies, etc etc).

How low are you running your AC? Do you have the windows or moonroof open? Are you carrying a porcelain bird bath in your trunk?
You should definitely be getting better mileage than that I think... This has been happening regularly? Or you only noticed it on the latest one or two trips?
I get very near 30 mpg going 75-80 on the hwy... and that's without cruise control, and somewhat aggressive driving. So it sounds like something isn't right. I know there's going to be some variance, but that seems excessive.

I just drove up to Seattle and back (from Portland) and my average was 30.5 mpg according to the trip computer. I averaged 63 mph, again according to the computer, and that was with a little stop and go getting out of Portland. Once that cleared up, I was doing between 65-85 mph.

With stock 18's on a 350 I was getting around 28-31 highway when on cruise depending on the speed (60-70). Best I ever got was 34mpg for 60 miles when going 60 following not *too* closely behind a truck.
With aftermarket 20's on the rear I'm getting about 23-25mpg under the same conditions. I'm not sure exactly how much heavier they are.
