1st depends, straight or twisties w/touge rules, everyone thinks 'racing' is about straight line performance. As for 'stock' i was thinking $$$. 20k car with 20k mods = 40k, 40k = is350... but yea thats apples n oranges...

What about a SN-197 mustang? We no-longer have a 1/4mi track on oahu so i dont know how fast they run compaired to our cars, and they're way cheeper. *i say track cuz thats REAL LIFE, not magazine numbers*

Will an IS 250 leave me feeling that I've traded down in the powe department? Frannkly I have past tickets and I don't need anything that tempts me to get more.

Thoughts?
I had a 2000 TL with 225hp, and I'm pleased with the 250's power, even with AWD. I haven't driven a 350 (I think I'll request that as a loaner for my 1st service), but I did test a g35x--no regrets.

Drive them both...you will get the 350
If you do any highway driving...you will get the 350
If you're a guy...you will get the 350 (250's are for girls!)

The only thing I liked better about the IS350 was the power. The handling was felt better in my IS250. I also liked the $6000.00 price difference.

Excuse you?! "250s are for girls"? Not only did you just offend many male 250 owners, but your implication that a "girl" would drive a lesser performance car clearly reflects your limited understanding / capacity. Further, this WOMAN will be driving a 350.

Ya performance cars aren't just for men... some of the best racers in the world are women ... some think its because of their naturally faster reaction times... so if anything else girls are utilize the power for effectively haha

Actually, he only offended the male 250 drivers, if you read him literally.

"250's are for girls" does not imply girls only drive 250's....

like saying, "dresses are for girls"... but girls can also wear pants.

OH NO YOU DIDDNNNT. I guess if you wanna say the 250 is for girls then we could make the assumption that the 350 is for guys who are trying to make up for the lack of something downstairs, but we wouldn't wanna do that...

It's only 3,000 more for 100 HP and better brakes (at least back in Oct 2005). In addition, the difference in fuel economy is only 1-2 mpg for average daily driving for most people (not a big deal).

The main thing is AWD vs. RWD. I went with the IS350 and ended up paying another 2 grand for spare rims, winter tires, and sensors cuz I live where it snows.

whaa??? i think thats the EXCEPTION not the norm... lubox may get 26mpg but thats only him, rest of us are down in the high teens to low 20's.

Lets not start this into a 3 pages of everyone posting their mpg now... (which is exactly whats gonna happen )

So are you calling me a girl!!!??

Wait..I am a girl...

But besides that, I'm a smart girl who spent 5-6k less on a car that just gets me back and forth to work and to the bank/grocery store on the weekends.

I had a 6 speed manual more performance oriented car, but opted for more practical which I think the original poster is looking for.
