I hate scratches !
#16
I think it is incredibly ridiculous how easy it is to scratch the glove box surface. The material has such poor abrasion resistance for something that is subject to making contact with so many objects....the girl friend's purse (and all the junk that hangs off it), my work bag that has metal zippers, the edges of the brown paper bags from the grocery store, and so on....All of these items including my nail has put unsightly scratch marks into the surface.
I tried various fix attempts including black shoe polish (I have back interior) and the best thing I found is a black sharpie as was mention before....but you shouldn't just use the marker like you are going to write you name in it. I just lightly dab the marker point directly on the scratch then before the ink has time to dry I take my finger and rub it. Rubbing it will not make it obvious you used a marker to cover up the scratch by eliminating the glossyness (is this even a word?) the marker leaves behind. I then follow up with 303 Aerospace Protectant and no more visible scratch Ghetto? Yes, but effective!
I am one of those people that cannot stand seeing a scratch in such a highly visibile area. It drives me CRAZY!

I just spoke to Lexus parts department and found out that they don't sell the door by itself. You have to buy the "assembly" for $450
Cleric I feel your pain. I'm not a complete freak about scratches, but the glove compartment door is a very highly visible area. Now I get even more pissed when I see the scratch knowing that it can cost me that much to properly fix. I'm probably going to try your method, but I have the silver or sterling interior, whatever the color is called. My problem is finding a color that matches.
