How long did you wait before you waxed your IS?
If at all. Have you guys waxed your IS? I just got mine a couple of weeks ago and was wondering if it needed to be waxed. I notice the water does bead when I wash it. Just curious. Oh, if so what wax did you use?

You can usually tell if the car needs to be waxed. They say that you should usually let a new paint job "breathe" before waxing it. Since my car was assembled a couple of months before I got it, it seemed that it had enough time to breathe.
I usually wax my car when it stops beading water.

Wax it immediately.
- Water beads on newer paint, so don't rely on that as an indicaton of wax/sealant protection.
- The paint finish is baked/cured at the factory, and can be waxed/polished/sealed pretty much immediately thereafter.
- The sealants dealers use are loaded with fillers, so you might have to clay and polish to remove rail dust from transit and swirling that result from dealer "prep".
- Without exception, the sealant packages that dealers sell are a rip off, and consist of a lot monkey with very little training applying a simple sealant with a rotary buffer. The stuff wears off in 6 months to a year like any other decent sealant. Read the fine print, which requires you to have annual reapplication by the dealer for the 5-year "guarantee". You could have your car professionally detailed several times (with better results!) for much less than the cost of these snake oil kits the dealers sell.
- If you want a long lasting sealant, Zaino is great. If you want the protection of a sealant with the depth of a wax, use Klasse AIO or equivolent with a wax topper. Make sure the wax doesn't contain cleaners, or you'll remove the sealant you just applied.
Good luck!
