Default The IS-F is tempting me to trade...anyone else feeling the itch?

Been lurking on the IS-F thread lately and thinking of possibly trading in the IS350 in. I will keep the Work VS-XX if they work with the ISF brake/offset. i guess we wont know for sure til they arrive.

I've been dabating if the extra hp and suspension is worth the upgrade over 350. In the meantime, I'm trying to keep the mileage low and take the R1 to work. I guess anything helps with the value in

Is the depreciation loss on the 2007 IS350 plus the additional cost of the IS-F worth the extra power that I will never really utilize?

For me, obvious no, as the 350 already has more performance than I will ever want to use consistently.

Thats true but i'm thinking the ISF may be the best bang for the $$ in terms of true performance sedan. Plus it would be more fun to drive a 400hp car with warranty than my stage 3 S4.

Realistically say if the trade in was 35K and ISF was 55K
20K in 4 yr equity loan finance would probably be in the $200ish range. Very tempting

You will get absolutely reamed on trade in value for an extra +100 or so hp. If it is that important to you to have the fastest IS than by all means go ahead, its only money. 306hp is plenty for me, and I don't have to have the latest/greatest machine in my garage. Remember, there will always be something bigger, better and badder next year, and the year after that, etc, etc ...... The IS-F isn't THAT much different to warrant trading in as far as I'm concerned.

I think your spread there is way too optimistic, by at least 10K, especially if you are talking about dealer trade.

And the ISF will be marked up if indeed they are very limited in production. And if you wait for the markup to go away, your 350 will further depreciate.

But I understand the temptation.

If you have the money, go for it... it's only money.

It would be tempting if I was not going to use the IS-F like I currently use my IS350: as a daily driver. In that regard, the IS350 foots the bill better IMO. Nevertheless, it is very tempting indeed; but I would however also wait for the BMW M3 sedan to be available for comparison [I need 4 doors unfortunately].

Its tempting...wasn't really a fan of the look of the show car but after seeing and hearing the car burn out in videos (from the event at Laguna Seca) I was won over. But considering my 350 is 6months old for me its really not worth the depreciation loss, dealer mark up, and addtional isurance cost. There will always be something more tempting

Not me. I never buy the 1st run of a new model or major redesign period. Doesn't matter which make, there's always bugs/problems with new production models. I typically like to wait 1 model year, but with the IS I waited 9 production months

I'll pass, 300hp on the street is more than enough for me. While the performance diff from the 250 to the 350 is very noticeable, 350 to IS-F... no not worth the price of admission.

As others have said, there will always be something better/faster/better bang for the buck. If you got money to burn thou... even then, I'll pass.

we don't know for sure if the performance difference between the IS-F and IS350 would be equal to or greater than the IS250 to IS350.

Most likely not though. The IS350 is about 2 seconds faster than the IS250 in 0-60.....

i say go for it. you only live once. Anyway, the money from your home equity will either be spent on the new IS-F or evaporate with the falling housing market..

the guy rides a liter crotch rocket capable of running 9s in the 1/4, so yeah I think he'd appreciate the horsepower. Anything under 700hp will still feel like a slug compared to a liter bike.
