Default IS350 performance in rain?

Hey I got my IS350 about a month ago, so I haven't been able to drive it in the rain/water. I have heard so many horror stories of people losing control of their ISs in the most unexpected situtations such as sprinklers.. is the performance in rainy/wet weather that bad? I am just paranoid about crashing my car due to water.

Hi, and welcome to Club Lexus! Just a quick tip - try to title your threads appropriately. "Question" does not tell everyone what you're looking for. I've changed the thread title to something that will elicit more responses to your question.

Yes you are being paranoid. The car handles just fine in the rain, even with the OEM tires.

Well probably this wont help much but my experience is to never push it beyond 80km/h or approx 50mph. The roads here turn to mini ponds due to heavy rain. I nearly had an accident going at this speed but since it was not that fast i know i can react to it in time.

I dont know how will this apply to ur roads.

Bottom line is the better driver u r the faster u can go.

well, there hasn't been much rain this year since I got my IS, so i wouldn't really know. It did rain ALOT when i was driving around in my old RX300( note that it did not have VSC or anything) and I was totally fine. Only problem I ever had when i drove in the rain was when i floored the car ONCE when it was raining REALLY hard, and the RX wouldn't find traction for a couple of seconds. =(

Things happen that cant be forseen by the driver in wet weather. So accidents can happen. In any wet weather, just drive slow. Thats the best thing that you can do. Performance in rainy weather isnt bad. Just unfortunate things happen to people :\

It handles fine in the rain if you don't get stupid... I don't care how anyone decides to sugar coat their stories, if you crash your car because of sprinklers you were quite likely driving irresponsibly.

I don't particularly like it, especially during corners, but it is just me.
I feel the car hass too much airtime when hitting bumps, even real small ones.

I once fishtail a lil bit, but the traction control quickly corrected it

fwd and rwd cars handle different in rain.. so it's not really all that fair to compare...

Lol... so you read about the sprinkler flip huh? I wouldn't worry too much about rain handling. I had a couple cases of mild hydroplaning when I hit standing water on the freeway but the car's nanny kicked in right away. My only advise is that VDIM and Traction control are there for a reason and drive at your own risk when you turn them off. Not saying that its incredibly hard, but get used to the feel of the car, and make sure you know how rwd works before doing so. Plus.... you never know when a leaky sprinkler is going to flip your car over.

No im sorry your wrong... big time... The better *more experienced* driver u r the SLOWER you go.

I dont know what everyone is talking about in this thread, when it rains, slow down, thats common sense.

Wat i meant was if u got the skills to tackle bad conditions the faster u can go.

But i do agree with u, the more experienced/wiser driver u r the slower u go.

The only reason experienced drivers go slower is because they know most of the other people on the road are idiots
