WTF?!?! You're getting ripped off. I get a complete oil change service, tire pressure check, fluid check, car wash, armor-all, and vacuum of the interior every time for $52.95 total.

isn't it recommended to have the oil drain for at least an hour before putting the new oil in?

NO, just completely drained. I usually flush it w/ reg oil after it had completely drained to get rid of left over dirt then wait and replace it w/ syn oil. I use syn oil because our cars require 5k mi interval for oil changes and I think that's too long. My commute is only 11 mi each way. $10-$15 more for syn oil every 6 months is not that bad.

I was thinking the same thing. I only pay about 60 bucks which isn't too bad considering the car gets detailed as well.

But $160???

There's a quart of oil that never comes out of the engine, so you're wasting conventional oil by "flushing" with it and mixing your synthetic with conventional oil because you'll never get all the conventional oil out of the engine.

Just drain it and call it a day. If you're really worried about getting the last drop, raise the driver's side higher than the passenger's side to get as much oil as possible out of the pan.

It's funny this thread came up. I just did a 10K oil change. It cost me $15 for labor and filter! I provided them with 25K Amsoil Synthetic 0w-20. The synthetic oil was $6/qt. The only problem is I still have to change the filter every 5K. I did it at a local Toyota/Lexus shop in Oregon that has been working on Japanese cars for 25+ years. I watched them the whole time to make sure everything went right. The guy even knew how to reset my maintenance req'd soon reminder on the display.

Red Line does not coke, and had never coked in the 100k miles I'd been using it in my Supra.

I will never have anyone change my oil again.

Yea I have actually heard of something like this happening.
