Default Blackout...

Hey guys...I've had my IS for a couple of months & I've always wanted a solid black car. I bought a black IS with that intention, & I think I know what I want to do, so I'm here for some opinions & constructive criticism. I stole a picture from a lease trading website & a friend of mine chopped it for me so I could get an idea.

What I want to do:

Paint chrome "Lexus" & "IS250" black to match the car - $15
Paint chrome grill outline black to match the car - $50
Powder coat stock 18" wheels black to match the car - $290
Vinyl rear lights, reflectors, front lights, & fogs (lightly) - $100
All told: $455 - not too bad to change the whole look of the car, IMO.

I've already tinted 20% sides & rear, so I'm set there. I also intend on leaving the chrome "L"s and the window trim alone - I like that idea for some reason.

What I hope it looks like, I think:

discuss away.

PS: if that's your car in my picture...sorry .

PPS: the wife & I are driving to Dallas tomorrow to pick up another IS250 - hers will be dark gray w/the same exact options as mine.

^ you're the first one to say so. My wife said "as long as you don't do that to my car, too", & my best friend said "I'd make the wheels chrome".

it's actually a chop - so that's the only pic right now. I have one where I crudely covered up the chrome (see below), but you may have to stand way back to make it blend .

It looks good but I would get aftermarket wheels. I'm thinking of going the same route. Painting the emblesm or getting the black pearl, painting the grill's chrome bezel and trying to find a way to black out the chrome accent on the window. I'm going leave the tail light and headlights unchanged though just because I don't want to go through all the trouble of a fix up ticket. Cops gets real picky here in CA.
