Lightbulb Diff Tires size for rea stock 18"

For some reason, I can't search by these terms (275, 275/35, or 275-35) so I'll post a quick question instead.

Stock rear 18 tires are 255-40, I know that some places suggest I go 275-35. They're a tiny bit smaller in diameter, about 1.7% to be exact, but a lil wider for better traction and grabs. Have you guys run any of these? What's your feedback on it?

I need to get new tires since my 2 rears are shots. Thanks a lot.

Not too sure how well a 275 would fit on our 8.5" rim, but when it comes to getting another set of rear tires I'm going for 255/35/18's. 3.9% better gearing and according to Gernby his speedo isn't off by much at all. He said 5%. Apparently the speedo reads from all 4 tires and calculates speed so that will help keep the speedo from reading the full 3.9% off.

265-35 would have much greater difference on the radius compared to stock size. Both specs are rated for 9.0" width wheels or more. That's why I'm looking to see if anyone ran 275-35 without any trouble.
