Personally, I really prefer a manual trans, but if the IS350 was in my budget, I would have gotten it instead of what I have now.

the bad thing about the MT is that the shifts are somewhat "clunky", the good news is that you get to wring out all the little power you have on a manual. Performance wise, the 250MT is still A LOT slower than the 350. Hope that helped.

No way, if u love driving the manual then i guess its reasonable, but the 350 is a beast i dont know why you would trade that in for a WAY slower car. The Is250 can get low 7's stock while the IS 350 can get high 4's and low 5's 0 - 60 ... i dunno, its your choice, my answer is no way

you can get a basic 350 z for like $26k if you don't mind the loss of luxury but if you really performance orienated and I heard you were debating on whether to get a is350 again but don't want to deal with the money issue...or you can get a g35 if you would miss the luxury part which is around $33k

185tq vs 277tq
What do you think? I'll give you three guesses, but you'll probably only need one.

NO!
The 07AT 250 I just got feels faster then the 06MT I traded in.
I found the MT such a pain to shift smooth at higher revs I never really went much over 3-4k especially from 1-2 shift.

You might be better off buying a 335i 6mt. You have to love the Lexus 2IS alot to be giving up 100hp and 90 lb-ft just for the sake of driving a 6mt. I love the manual in my 250 and while I agree it isn't the best clutch and shifter in the world, I managed to drive the car very smoothly and enjoys the experience way more than any autobox. It's also $11K cheaper (here in Canada) between the base IS350 and base IS250, so another no brainer for me to drive the IS250 6MT instead of the IS350 5AT
FYI, I drove my dad's Cayman S tiptronic for a week on a 1,500mile road trip and even with such an advanced autobox (auto blimps on downshifts with or without manual shift mode!) I found my driving experience lacking simply because i wasn't controlling the gears, so I could be a bit biased towards 6MT vs 5AT.
